NDC e–news Issue #9

 The NGO Development Center (NDC) is an innovative Palestinian non-profit organization established in November 2006 in response to the need of having a sustainable Palestinian mechanism for providing financial and technical support to the NGO sector. NDC is governed by a policy board of directors that is composed of representatives from society experts, NGO networks and unions, academia, and the private sector.

PCBS reviews the current use of technology in the Palestinian Territory on the occasion of World Information Society Day

In 2011, 50.9% of households owned a computer in the Palestinian Territory: 53.2% in the West Bank and 46.5% in Gaza Strip. In 2004, around one quarter (26.4%) of households had a computer.

In 2011, 53.7% of individuals (10 years and over) in the Palestinian Territory have access to computer: 54.8% in the West Bank and 51.7% in Gaza Strip: and 58.5% of males and 48.7% of females. Whereas in 2004, 35.7% of individuals have access to computer.

Hurryyat Calls upon WHO and Amnesty International for an Urgent Intervention to Save the lives of Ailing Prisoners

The Center for Defense of Liberties and Civil Rights-‘Hurryyat’ issued a statement calling for the World Health Organization, Amnesty International, the International Committee of Red Cross and all international human rights organizations to intervene immediately to save the lives of the ailing prisoners in Israeli prisons.

AFKAR Offers Activities and Programs to Adjust Students’ Behaviors

The start of year 2012 witnessed a quantum leap regarding program, managerial, financial, and strategic development to Afkar For Educational & Cultural Development. Since its’ establishment, the organization has striven to offer activities and programs necessary and influential to adjust students’ behaviors, and to successfully use education participatory tools. This progress was accompanied with signing partnership agreements and offering technical assistance by the funders for raising service level presented by AFKAR to its targeted groups.

Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and World Bank joint mission completes mid-term Review of Palestinian NGO IV Project

Mission visits 11 projects and holds a series of meetings with NDC and Palestinian Authority ministries.

From the 17th to the 29th of March a joint AFD and World Bank delegation carried out a detailed mid-term review of the Palestinian NGO IV Project managed by NDC (funded by AFD/World Bank).

Ghoneim discusses with World Bank delegation mechanisms for supporting area C

Ramallah-Maan - Minister of State, Engineer Maher Ghoeim discussed today with a World Bank delegation priorities and way for supporting projects in area C under Israeli authority and targetted by Israeli Occupation as well as settlers.

Mr. Ghoneim received a WB delegation led by Sabine Beddies and representatives from the AFD and the NDC. The Minister stressed the importance of the NGOs in the implementation of projects and supporting targeted areas affected by the wall, racial expansion and selttements.
