NDC e–news (Autumn 2011)

 The NGO Development Center (NDC) is an innovative Palestinian non-profit organization established in November 2006 in response to the need of having a sustainable Palestinian mechanism for providing financial and technical support to the NGO sector. NDC is governed by a policy board of directors that is composed of representatives from society experts, NGO networks and unions, academia, and the private sector.

The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) and the Geneva Centre for Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) held a workshop for journalists on the right of access to information at Maan News Agency headquarters in Bethlehem, on Thursday 24 January 2012.

UNRWA launches 300 million appeal for Gaza and the West Bank

Three years after the end of the Gaza war, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, UNRWA, has launched an emergency appeal for Gaza and the West Bank worth just over 300 million US dollars. Speaking at UNRWA HQ in Gaza , Deputy Commissioner General, Margo Ellis, said “the effects of the war still persist today and the humanitarian needs of the women, men and children of Gaza remain widespread and acute”.

New study for MADA center recommends preparing Media Basic Law

The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) released a legal study entitled "Legal Regulations of Media Freedom in Palestine", prepared by legal advisor Rashad Tawam under the supervision of lawyer Ahmed Nasra. This study was funded by the UNESCO office in Ramallah.

The study sheds light on the legal environment relating to and affecting media freedoms in the Palestinian territories, its impact on restricting media work, and if or how these regulations meet international standards.

It has never been foreseen that a tree might become a target for continuous hostility and brutality despite the fact that this particular tree has been a symbol of peace and prosperity through out the years.

The olive picking season is considered a season of joy and delight; it is also a season were Israeli colonists are most active; they commit their crimes of theft, harassment, physical and verbal abuse, cutting down trees, uprooting trees, and even murder.

Land Research Center: Increasing Attacks on Jerusalemites and their Properties in October 2011

October, 2011, has witnessed radical escalations and a brutal assault against Palestinians and their properties all around the West Bank especially the Occupied City of Jerusalem.
It is believed that such attack took place in retaliation for the Palestinian statehood bid and accepting its full membership in the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
