The Palestinian Center for Democracy & Conflict Resolution (PCDCR), is a non-profit non-governmental organization. PCDCR evolved from a series of activities implemented by a group of Palestinian youths volunteered to develop an Arab Palestinian model institution to further develop those activities and apply them in form of large-scale training courses, educational activities and projects in and for the Palestinian community.
The endeavor of this group to form a Palestinian institute with international standards of service helped in obtaining the official license at the Ministry of Justice in 1998 as a Palestinian organization with the dedicated aim of strengthening the Palestinian civil society.
In its external mission, the PCDCR invests in the democratic experience of Palestinians by supporting the development of an accountable governance system. The organization operates an integrated program of community mobilization and capacity building that enables citizens to build trust and confidence in their own abilities to resolve community issues, and thus to take an increasingly active and confident role in society. Free of any political affiliation, the PCDCR provides technical and other capacity building support to informal and formal decision-making bodies so that they can respond effectively and accountably to the demands of an increasingly aware and activist civil society.
In its internal mission, the PCDCR is investing in an effective and accountable administrative, management and governance structure. This investment includes staff training, Board development support and administrative restructuring. It will allocate this investment strategically in order to achieve its vision of institutional and programmatic excellence and innovation. The organization is committed to strengthening its capacity to access an increasingly diversified funding base, and will upgrade its information and reporting capacity to service the needs of its funding and technical assistance and other partners.
