The book presents the geopolitical status of Hebron Governorate. It starts with an overview of the Israeli segregation plan in the city and then discusses how Palestinian resources are affected by it. In addition, the book presents the military orders in the area, and the Israeli colonization activities including settlements’ outposts, the new Israeli settlements’ plans, and life inside Hebron’s old city (H2). Furthermore, information about bypass roads, Israeli checkpoints, the segregation wall, and the impact of all these on the social life, economy, and demography are presented

Status of the Environment in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

The book provides a narrative, statistical and cartographic description of the current environmental status in the OPT and shows the trends of the major environmental indicators over the period from 1997 till 2007. It also includes a list of recommendations to monitor and control further environmental degradation, and to carry out restoration actions in environmental hot spots. The book is divided into three main parts: Part One “Land, Demography and Economic Sectors”; Part Two “Environmental Challenges”; and Part Three “National and International Aspects”.

This book comes as a result of a comprehensive study of all localities in the Bethlehem Governorate. It aims at depicting the overall living conditions in the Governorate and presenting developmental plans to assist in developing the livelihood of the population in the area. It was accomplished through the 'Village Profiles and Azahar Needs Assessment for the Bethlehem Governorate' project, funded by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID) and the Azahar Program.

Electoral systems are the primary vehicle for choice and representational governance, which is the basic foundation for democratization. These systems must provide opportunities for all, including the most disadvantaged, to participate in and influence government policy and practice. Effective management of electoral systems requires institutions that are inclusive, sustainable, just and independent– which includes in particular electoral management bodies that have the legitimacy to enforce rules and assure fairness with the cooperation of political parties and citizens.

Where Villages Stood: Israel’s Continuing Violations of International Law in Occupied Latroun, 1967-2007

Located in the Latroun enclave of the West Bank, north-west of Jerusalem, these three Palestinian villages were razed to the ground by the Israeli army upon its occupation of the area in June 1967, despite the fact that it was met with no resistance. The study presents revealing information unearthed in Israeli government archives, demonstrating the intent behind this destruction. The civilian residents of the villages, numbering up to 10,000, were forcibly transferred out of the area.

he Socio-Economic and Food Security Atlas is one of the first Atlases produced which relates to food security issues at the national level in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) and in the Arab world. This new tool will be part of the already existing Food Security Monitoring System that is implemented by the WFP, Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) as to combat poverty and improve the food security status in the oPt.
