Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (BASR) is a non profit, non governmental, NGO that is a leading provider of medical, surgical and rehabilitation services in Palestine, empowering people with a range of disabilities to pursue full and meaningful lives. It offers a comprehensive range of in-house services together with significant advocacy and community engagement across Bethlehem area and the West Bank.
1. Facilitate the access of people with disabilities (PWDs) to various rehabilitation interventions that cover their different rehabilitation needs.
2. Enhance the access of PWDs to their right to inclusive education.
3. Facilitate the access of PWDs to economic empowerment opportunities.
4. Enhance the access of PWDs to social protection interventions.
5. Enhance the access of persons with mental health difficulties to professional mental health services and support.
6. Establish a local institutional basis that ensures the inclusion of disability issues in local institutions, their programs and services.
7. Become a resource center and provide the needed information on disability issues for organizations working in the disability sector.
8. Raise awareness and positive attitudes and advocate for the rights and issues of PWDs.
I. Medical and surgical hospital which consists of the following units: General Surgery, ENT Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Emergency Services and Intensive Care.
II. Specialized rehabilitation departments, which consist of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, hydrotherapy, audiology, speech therapy and vision rehabilitation, in addition to a department for prosthetics and orthotics.
III. The Community-Based Rehabilitation Program (CBR) that reaches people with disabilities (PWDs) in their different communities in the West Bank, with the aim of facilitating their access of to their rights through the program’s specialized units, namely: outreach supervision, outreach rehabilitation, education, economic empowerment, mental health, social protection, advocacy and research, and community development.
