On Thursday, May 29, 2008, NDC signed a Preliminary Agreement with the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) representing Switzerland, and on behalf of 3 other donor countries namely, Denmark, Netherlands and Sweden to establish and manage a new Human Rights and Good Governance Secretariat (HR/GG) for an indicative total amount of USD 6 million over the course of its 18 months of operations (as a first phase).
On behalf of SDC, Mr. Mario Carera, Head of Office, and Mrs. Terry Boullata, National Program Officer attended the signing ceremony, and from NDC, Dr. Suleiman Khalil, NDC Board Secretary, Dr. Alam Jarrar, Board Member, and Mr. Ghassan Kasabreh, NDC Director, attended the event.
Mr. Ghassan Kasabreh started the event by welcoming the attendees, then pointing out the importance of signing this agreement in terms of contributing to the empowerment of Human Rights and Good Governance principles among NGOs working in this field. He also hoped for the quick implementation of this program.
