Fares Al-Arab, in partnership with DRC, implements a training program on the risks of explosive ordnance

The Fares Al-Arab Foundation for Development, in partnership with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), implemented a specialized training program on explosive ordnance and methods of dealing with it. The program was conducted over five days, from September 14 to 18, with a total of 30 training hours, at the headquarters of the Palestinian NGO Network (PNGO) in Deir al-Balah.

The training program was attended by the site management team at the Fares Al-Arab Foundation, along with several committee teams from displacement sites targeted by the organization. The training included introductory sessions on the types of explosive ordnance and their effects, as well as discussions on safe and unsafe behaviors, in addition to practical cases to enhance participants’ understanding. The program also addressed issues of gender and diversity in humanitarian work related to mine risks.

The training concluded with the distribution of specialized tools for data collection and reporting on relevant indicators, contributing to raising participants’ awareness and enhancing their skills in dealing with these risks. Participants in the training program are expected to conduct further training and awareness sessions on explosive ordnance at the targeted sites.

This training comes as part of a series of activities implemented by the project to build the capacities of site management staff, through a set of practical tools, contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of the humanitarian response to those affected by the war in displacement sites.
